Venice Rookery

On a recent visit to the Venice Rookery all the birds had babies. The blue herons, the egrets and the Anhinghas all had young in nests. They were making quite a racket.

There is a gator that lives there too. He hangs out on the island with them at times.

Legacy Trail

I love taking the legacy trail from Laurel Rd down to the Venetian Waterway in Venice. It's a very scenic rte with a few places to stop along the way. The Legacy trail does extend all the way to Sarasota.

Sunset on the Jetty

I love to visit the North Jetty for the sunset.  The sunsets are beautiful and often times there are dolphins. I also like to see some of the other wildlife. The blue herons, egrets and pelicans. It's great to see the pelicans soar above the water and all of a sudden go head first into the water to catch a fish.

The North Jetty is just 2 miles from my home in Nokomis, Fl.
